Chapter 03 · The Process

Step inside before you buy.

We're one of the only ADU builders whose factory you can walk through. Touch the framing. Open the cabinets. Meet the team that will build your home, often Cathy herself. Most clients tell us the tour was the moment they decided.

What You'll See

An hour and a half that answers most questions.

  1. 01

    Completed homes

Walk through finished ADUs. Open cabinets, test the fixtures, feel the finish work.

  2. 02

    2x6 framing

See the stronger, better-insulated exterior walls we build instead of standard 2x4.

  3. 03

    The foundation system

Understand exactly how your home connects to your property.

  4. 04

    Work in progress

Watch homes at different build stages on the factory floor.

“I could tell that it was made very well. Everything looks top of the line, the fixtures, the windows, the kitchen. It's awesome.”

The 90-Minute Agenda

Here's exactly what happens during your tour.

0–10 min

Welcome + introductions

You'll meet a member of our team, often Cathy herself. Quick overview of who we are, what we build, and what the tour will cover.

10–35 min

Factory floor walkthrough

See homes at every stage of construction: foundation, framing, plumbing/electrical, drywall, finish. Ask about anything, from material choices to quality standards to why we do things a certain way.

35–60 min

Walk through finished models

Step inside completed homes ready for delivery. Open cabinets, sit on the deck, test the fixtures. Most clients say this is the moment everything clicks.

60–80 min

Q&A + your specific situation

Sit down with a member of our team and talk through your property, your goals, and which model might fit. We pull up satellite images of your lot if you brought the address.

80–90 min

Next steps if you want to proceed

If the tour has you convinced, we walk through what the feasibility study covers. No pressure either way. Many clients tour first and decide later. About half do.

What to Bring

Six things that make your tour more useful.

Your property address

We pull satellite images of your lot during the tour to talk through what might fit. Print or save the address.

Photos of your lot

Especially side yards, back yard, access from street, and anything that might affect crane delivery (large trees, narrow gates).

Your spouse / decision-makers

Touring once is much easier than visiting twice. Bring whoever needs to feel the home before saying yes.

Comfortable shoes

You'll walk concrete factory floors and step in and out of homes. Sneakers, not heels.

Questions

Pricing, materials, timeline, financing, anything. We'd rather over-answer than have you leave with doubts.

Nothing else

No cash, no commitments. The tour is free with no obligation.

Factory Tour FAQ

Questions before you book.

How long is the tour?

Roughly 90 minutes. Half of that is on the factory floor; the rest is walking through completed homes and Q&A. We don't rush. If you have more questions, we stay longer.

Is the tour really free?

Yes. No deposit, no commitment, no pressure to sign. About half of tour visitors don't become clients, and that's fine. We want you to make a fully-informed decision either way.

Will I meet Cathy?

On your tour you'll meet a member of our team, often Cathy herself. Tour days are weekdays at the Salinas factory, and Cathy is frequently on-site to host. If she's tied up, another member of the team will walk you through.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes, but know that it's a working factory with construction tools, lifts, and forklifts. Kids over 8 or so usually do fine; younger kids can be tricky. If you bring children, plan to keep them close.

Can my contractor or architect come?

Absolutely. Many tours include the client + their contractor or designer. Bringing a builder you trust to vet our work is a smart move.

Is there a virtual tour option?

Not currently. Most clients tell us seeing the homes in person was the deciding factor, so we encourage the in-person tour. If you live more than 4 hours away and can't easily come to Salinas, get in touch and we'll figure out something.

What if my preferred date is full?

We confirm dates within a few business days. If your first choice is taken, we'll offer the closest available. Tours run most weekdays, so flexibility helps.

What happens after I submit the form?

Our team will reach out within 1–2 business days to confirm your tour time. They'll email a confirmation with the factory address, parking instructions, and what to bring. The day before your tour, you'll get a reminder.

Can't Make It in Person?

Start with a free property analysis.

If you can't get to Salinas yet, the 30-minute property analysis is the next-best starting point. Our Account Manager will pull your property records and tell you which models fit your lot, by phone, free.
