Classic Craftsman leans on the details that have made Craftsman homes beloved for a century: exposed rafter tails, tapered porch columns, deep overhanging eaves, and warm natural wood tones. It settles into established neighborhoods without calling attention to itself, which is exactly why it photographs as 'a real home' rather than 'an addition.'

Classic Craftsman is the standard, included finish on every Framework First model from the Four Fifty Studio ($180K) to the Twelve Hundred U-shaped ($557K). No upgrade fee.

Every Framework First price includes a permitting budget along with plans, foundation, factory build, delivery, hookups, appliances, and inspections. Permit costs are set by your city or county, so they're confirmed in your feasibility study along with any property-specific site work. The pricing on our models page reflects the standard Classic Craftsman finish. Style upgrades are itemized separately so you see exactly what changes.

Classic Craftsman FAQ

Questions people ask about Classic Craftsman.

Does Classic Craftsman work with a non-Craftsman main house?
Yes, more often than you'd think. Because Craftsman is the universal donor (warm woods, classic proportions), it blends with mid-century, ranch, Spanish-revival, and most other California vernacular styles. The only main houses where we sometimes recommend a different style are strongly-defined Modern or Mediterranean homes, where the contrast can feel forced.

Can I customize the paint colors and stains?
Yes. The ADU Designer lets you pick from a curated palette of body colors, trim colors, door stains, and roof colors. We don't allow infinite custom paint because of factory-finish quality control, but the curated set gives you dozens of layout, bedroom, bathroom, and finish combinations.

What's the maintenance like compared to the other styles?
Classic Craftsman is the lowest-maintenance of the three styles. Wood-look composite siding (Hardie or similar) is paint-cycle every 12–15 years. The Urban Farmhouse and Ultra Modern styles have a few more design elements (black trim, large glass spans) that need slightly more attention long-term.
